‘Cape Capricorn’ was painted after a visit to the beautiful Gladstone Region. Cape Capricorn is a coastal headland on Curtis Island, Queensland, Australia. It was named by Captain Cook in 1770 as he found it to be located on the Tropic of Capricorn, modern survey however has it’s endpoint just slightly south of the present tropic.
