Corinne Purcell Artist Statement.
‘It’s always been a love of the outdoors’
Anytime spent exploring the great outdoors has been greatly valued throughout my life, the delight of being amongst mother nature, appreciating all the elements, taking in all the treasures there; creates a quiet and calmness within that helps inspire me to do what I love most, Create.
Drawing was my first love, then painting. I sold my first painting when I was 11 years old and this is what I feel gave me the confidence to take the opportunities that presented themselves to me and to look at things with a different perspective. I work in many mediums these days and enjoy mixing things up so that in the end the work is unique.
Perfection is unattainable in this approach particularly with my latest love ‘Resin’. I make no attempt to portray realism, rather I work many layers again and again over days and days to achieve a successful piece, its usually not until the final stages that I can see the different mediums coming together in a way that is satisfactory to me.
There is such beauty surrounding us, my hope is to bring the outside in and to pay tribute to the natural world reminding all of us to slow down, reconnect and appreciate with what is freely available to us all- Nature.
